Dejima and Salesforce.com
to Provide Expanded Mobile Access for Salesforce.com
Customers Using Wireless Devices
Mobile sales professionals
using Dejima Direct SFA can now access critical customer
information from Salesforce.com using devices like
BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds
San Jose
Calif., April 30, 2002 - Dejima, Inc., a developer
of mobile access solutions, and salesforce.com, the
market leader in online customer relationship management
(CRM), today announced that salesforce.com customers
using devices with email clients, like BlackBerry
Wireless Handhelds™ (NASDAQ:RIMM), will have faster,
easier mobile access to their critical customer
information by using the new Dejima Direct SFA product.
For the first time, mobile sales professionals will be
able to request data from salesforce.com's CRM
applications via email on handheld devices. Responses
are sent back immediately over email.
The Dejima
Direct SFA solution enables enterprises and service
providers to directly connect users to critical
information by communicating with CRM and sales force
automation databases through natural interaction. Using
popular mobile devices, Dejima's latest product, Dejima
Direct SFA, seamlessly unites mobile professionals with
their salesforce.com data.
"Salesforce.com
is committed to enhancing the productivity of mobile
sales professionals," said Cary Fulbright, senior vice
president of marketing and products at salesforce.com.
"By leveraging our standards-based Web Services
architecture and XML API's, Dejima was able to quickly
deploy a solution that allows our customers to gain
access to their critical information anytime,
anywhere."
Market
Opportunity
According to a report published
by Gartner Research, entitled Evaluating Field Sales
Projects With a Balanced Scorecard (May 5, 2000), "Sales
executives should not be required to work around
processes or technologies to close deals. Technology
should reinforce sales processes and enable actions that
elicit the desired execution of actions and events." As
the size of the mobile workforce continues to grow,
businesses are recognizing that productive mobile
workers contribute towards building competitive,
profitable companies. It is therefore essential that
employees reach the information they need and execute
tasks from the field, and not be forced to use a
work-around solution. Workers need something as simple
and functional outside the office, as they have inside.
Dejima
Direct SFA
Dejima's patented natural
interaction technology enables sales reps to simply send
an email to salesforce@dejimadirect.com with requests
for actions or reports (e.g. "Show all opportunities
targeted to close this quarter"). Dejima then interprets
user requests for information and retrieves data,
delivering it back to the user via email in a matter of
seconds. Once the end-user receives a response, he/she
can then act: ask for more detailed information, forward
relevant data to peers and managers, or even follow up
with clients to close a deal. Sales reps can also easily
update opportunities, ensuring accurate forecasts by
simply sending a request such as "Update opp XL Color
Printers stage to closed won."
Web
Interface
From any handheld web browser,
Dejima Direct SFA users can also interact with
salesforce.com via a combination of free-form textual
requests and a graphical user interface (GUI) on their
BlackBerry™ handheld or other wireless device. Users
simply point their browsers to www.dejimadirect.com and
can then either ask for requests to be fulfilled or they
can point and click to find desired data or execute
transactions.
"Dejima is
expanding the capabilities of the mobile workforce by
dramatically changing the way end-users access
information and interact with enterprise applications.
We've finally made it simple," said Antoine Blondeau,
CEO of Dejima. "With Dejima Direct SFA, we are
delivering a solution from which everyone - from the
largest enterprise to the independent salesperson - can
benefit."
Dejima Direct
SFA will be available in May of this year.
Salesforce.com customers will be charged a monthly per
seat license fee.
